If you’re anything like me, you probably have a voice in your head that’s always telling you that “you can’t.” You might also hear it whispering that you’re not good enough, or smart enough, or pretty enough. If you’re ready to shut down that little voice, this is the episode for you! I want to give you practical strategies that you can implement starting today.
Here are three powerful strategies you can use to overcome your own limiting beliefs:
- Name the fear. Identify the thought or belief that’s playing in your head, and figure out what exactly the fear is.
- Change the tape. Replace the message that your negative inner voice tells you with a new message, and intentionally craft a new script for yourself.
- Create accountability. It’s really hard to let people in and be real and authentic, especially when it comes to our limiting beliefs, but it’s important to have someone who will call you out when necessary.

The last step is the scariest of all. Yikes
I really liked all 3. I really liked the point in the 2nd one that none of us know what we’re doing. That is hard to remember in the age of social media where everyone posts only the “perfect stuff’. Also, to not worry about what people think, or be afraid to make a mistake. The 3rd one was the kicker though. That is the one I really need to work on. That negative thinking is what really holds me back sometimes. You talk yourself out of doing things that could be great. And, yes, if it doesn’t turn out great, so what, at least you tried.
This year I bought the planner. I don’t use it fully yet, but it is with me and I am learning how to use it. This year started out for me ‘doing it scared’, and where I am right now is a great start.

Limiting beliefs limit us in moving forward. They can hold us back from so many things in our lives. Making the decision to not allow them to limit us will help us to move past them. Replacing them with positive beliefs, affirmations, faith declarations are so important. This is half the battle in our minds. Then, being accountable to ourselves and allowing accountibility from others finishes the equation which allows us to bring change to our lives! Changing the tape is my biggest challenge. I have a very hard time controlling my run away thoughts about myself. I’m curious to learn more about how you change that thought process that doesn’t seem hokey to those of us that really struggle in this step.

This podcast definitely resonated with me. I started EBA as a new blogger and am close to the point where I should start sharing the blog with others. I am afraid to share (except to my most trusted people) since I worry too much what people will think of me. I think I need to create a positive affirmation along the lines of not everyone will like my blog and that is okay and that my blog is a work in progress.

Accountability is tough…every which way! Finding THE person or persons is beyond difficult. Opening up is a new stratosphere of tough. Gracefully accepting and putting the constructive criticism to work in my life is hard. I would love to find those accountability partners but I have not accomplished that yet. Working on it, though. Accountability is a huge part of any success.
