Whether you think New Year’s resolutions are awesome or arbitrary, you probably set at least one or two… and don’t follow through on them. If that sounds familiar, this episode is for you! I’ll talk about how to set resolutions that you’ll actually keep.
I believe in the potential of the future, and I love the idea of being able to start completely fresh. Is it any wonder that I love New Year’s? With that said, I definitely haven’t always kept my resolutions. I would start strong, but by February, usually all of my amazing intentions had gone right out the window. It wasn’t that I wasn’t accomplishing anything, but the progress wasn’t happening as quickly or dramatically as I wanted.
In 2013, my husband quit his job to stay home with the kids so that I could focus on my business. That gave me the pressure to make it work. I realized that I had to change the way I set my goals, so I could stay focused and accomplish those big things. So I created a planner for myself. Would you believe that this simple planner was the biggest game-changer in my entire business, and maybe even my entire life?
Within two months of using this planner, I tripled my revenue. Four months after that, I had accomplished all of the big goals. The amount of progress I made was incredible, and all that had changed was the way that I was setting my goals.
What made all the difference was making a few incredible simple changes to the goals I set, and how I defined and measured success and tracked my progress. Here are the keys to setting powerful goals that you’ll actually achieve:
- Narrow your focus and hone in on your most important goals.
- Pick goals you actually care about, and understand what motivates you.
- Get specific and define what success looks like for you.
- Keep your goals top of mind.
